Everyplate Review

everyplate review

Meal delivery services have exploded in popularity in the past few years, going from a novelty provided by just a few companies to dozens of options. With many delivery services costing $10 or more per meal, EveryPlate is attempting to fill the underserved niche of affordable meal delivery services. This EveryPlate review will cover everything you need to know to determine if this is the right meal delivery service for you.

What We Liked About EveryPlate

The main draw of the EveryPlate service is the price. However, they also provide many of the features that have become standard with pricier delivery services. Our EveryPlate review ranks the service well in several categories:

  • Cost
  • Easy recipes
  • Ability to cancel or skip deliveries
  • Recyclable packaging

What We Didn’t Like About EveryPlate

There is a lot to like about the service, but there were a few major drawbacks. There are several features we encountered in our EveryPlate review that we did not like:

  • Extremely limited options for special diets
  • Requirement to purchase before picking meals
  • Lack of variety

EveryPlate Features

Like other meal delivery services, EveryPlate takes some of the work out of meal preparation by delivering a box full of pre-portioned ingredients, complete with instructions on how to turn those ingredients into meals. Each delivery allows the customer to choose from 16 recipes that change every week. The recipes have just six steps each and take 30 minutes or less to prepare. At just $4.99 per serving, EveryPlate meals cost about half the price of many other popular meal delivery services. Customers can choose to skip a week or cancel their subscription at any time. One of our favorite features in this EveryPlate review is that they use recyclable packaging.

How EveryPlate Works

Clicking on the “get started” button on the front page of the EveryPlate site begins the process. From there, customers are presented with several options to choose from. First, they can choose a plan for two or four people and pick whether they want three, four or five meals per week.

Next, the site asks for an email address and a password. After that, you will need to input your name, delivery address, phone number and choose a date for your first delivery. Unlike many competitors, EveryPlate does not offer free shipping; however, the standard shipping fee is less than $10.On the next screen you input your credit card information or pay via Paypal. Following payment, you select the specific meals that you want.

EveryPlate Menu

The EveryPlate review menu focuses on crowd-pleasing food that is simple to prepare, so this probably isn’t the service for serious foodies or advanced cooks looking for a challenge. The food is tasty, but many of the recipes share similar ingredients, so there isn’t a lot of variety in the flavors. Examples of the type of recipes you can expect to choose from include:

  • Griddled onion burgers
  • Sweet chili pork tacos
  • Garlic dijon butter steak
  • Onion smothered chicken
  • Bacon and roasted tomato linguine
  • BBQ-glazed turkey meatloaf
  • Lemon parsley scallops
  • Mozzarella, tomato jam and zucchini panini

In addition to the regular menu plan, customers can purchase protein packs that include items such as chicken breasts and steaks. Of the 16 options on the current menu, three are vegetarian.

Meal Preparation

Each box of ingredients comes with a set of recipe cards. The recipes are designed to be easy-to-follow, even for beginning cooks.

Who Should Consider EveryPlate

If for instance, you are looking for a low-cost way to skip the grocery store and prefer simple, easy-to-prepare meals to fancy restaurant-style dishes, EveryPlate may be a good choice for you. However, our EveryPlate review recommends vegans, vegetarians and other customers with dietary restrictions choose a different service.
