When you include the extended introductory period of 0% interest on purchases for the first 15 months after opening the account, you’ll find that your credit card spending will give you more money than you pay on interest during this period. Furthermore, the rewards will never expire as long as your account remains open.

Disadvantages

While the advantages definitely outweigh the disadvantages with this card, the drawbacks should be noted. As stated above, the rewards can be difficult to navigate and leave you unsure how much cash back you’ll receive on a specific purchase. Of course, that may be better than not having a more limited rewards structure.

This is an excellent card for those new to the world of credit cards, as you don’t need stellar credit to apply. Chase typically looks for a credit score of 690 or above when approving applications. So, those without a credit history or with a credit score that tops out in the mid-600s may have to look elsewhere to begin or repair their credit history.

15 months of 0% interest on purchases is also an excellent offer. Unfortunately, this introductory rate doesn’t apply to balance transfers. With a nonintroductory APR of 14.99% to 23.74%, you may find the Chase Freedom Unlimited carries a higher interest rate than the card from which you are transferring your balance.

Due to the wide array of features and benefits that come with the Chase Freedom Unlimited card, it’s hard to find someone for whom it wouldn’t be advantageous. Its low threshold for application means that those who are hovering right below a 700 score can apply and likely be approved (depending on the rest of your credit history).

The extended period of 0% interest also means that those looking to finance large purchases will benefit from this card. You’ll have 15 months to pay it off without incurring any interest, and you’ll receive a cash-back bonus for your purchase, too.

Those that do their families grocery shopping will also receive a bounty of rewards. You’ll receive 5% back from your purchases, as well as likely hit the $500 threshold that gives you an additional $200 back.
